Beef Better Than Bouillon

And here’s the scoop—this isn’t just any spaghetti bolognese. The secret to achieving that “cooked all day” flavor in just 30 minutes lies in one special ingredient: Better Than Bouillon. Toss that stock cube aside; this magic paste brings depth to your sauce that will have everyone asking, “Did you really spend all day cooking this?” Spoiler alert: You didn’t!

Let’s Get Cooking: Your Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe

Are you ready to whip up the most scrumptious spaghetti bolognese? Gather your supplies and follow along!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground Italian sausage
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion; diced
  • 4 cloves garlic; minced
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp beef base (aka your Better Than Bouillon!)
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes + 1 can of water
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil; chopped
  • 12 oz spaghetti

Steps for Cooking:

Preheat your oven to 425°F.

Ground beef and sausage in pot

Drizzle olive oil into a large heavy-bottom pot and brown the ground beef and sausage.

Add the diced onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Is it smelling good yet? Good!

Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Now, time to stir in the tomato paste, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and beef base. Cook until the mixture turns a lovely burnt orange color (around 4 minutes)!

Next, add in the crushed tomatoes, water, salt, sugar, and fresh basil. Give it a good stir.

Break the spaghetti in half.

*Pro Tip– DO NOT break all 12oz of pasta at once. (Unless you want little fragments flying all over your kitchen.) Instead grab 12-15 noodles at a time and break in half like that, trust me on this. I Learned the hard way!

Submerge the pasta in that glorious sauce so it all cooks evenly.

Pop that beauty into the oven uncovered for 18 minutes, stirring at 5 and 10 minutes. This ensures it won’t stick together in a clumpy mess, so don’t skip this step.

Garnish with parsley and Parmesan cheese before serving. Voilà!

In summary, cooking this spaghetti bolognese in the oven not only locks in that exquisite flavor but also gives you less kitchen fuss. So, gather the family and enjoy a meal that’s bound to become a regular on your dinner table. Happy cooking friends!
